In this city, the concepts of cellular and networked settlement structures are systematically realised, tested, taught and lived by the inhabitants. Essential elements are ecological construction methods and urban structures, sustainable energy supply, local water and material cycles, local food production, CO2-neutral mobility and local economy. The Ecostation is a place of communication, experience and learning for trainees, researchers and the public.[\/nectar_hotspot][nectar_hotspot left=”46.86116395418111%” top=”15.42074914072074%” position=”top”]Terra-Preta plant <\/strong>: Terra Preta is an extremely fertile deep black soil obtained from black water, organic waste and green cuttings with the addition of locally produced charcoal and used for soil improvement and as a basis for local agriculture and gardening.[\/nectar_hotspot][nectar_hotspot left=”36.06537764365793%” top=”23.825570648791743%” position=”top”]In the former Panzerhalle, the Teaching workshops <\/strong> of the Campus City as well as other training and production facilities will be accommodated. [\/nectar_hotspot][nectar_hotspot left=”33.45368648112543%” top=”12.445532106885723%” position=”top”]The waste water is reprocessed using plant-based purification plants <\/strong>. They are filtered by a percolation process and purified by the interaction of selected marsh plants and microorganisms so that they can then be returned to the natural water cycle or further treated in the Eco Station. [\/nectar_hotspot][nectar_hotspot left=”25.87618241070461%” top=”21.66734583237592%” position=”top”]The Eco City <\/strong>is a “city of short distances” and largely car-free. The tangentially arranged mobility centre is a contact point for all other forms of mobility such as electric mobility, driving services, car and bike sharing.[\/nectar_hotspot][nectar_hotspot left=”20.66002487103282%” top=”10.546022302964154%” position=”top”]Eco City has its own building yard <\/strong>with research facilities and experimental areas. [\/nectar_hotspot][nectar_hotspot left=”37.0279%” top=”45.436%” position=”top”]The former barracks have been redesigned as housing spaces<\/strong> for up to 10,000 trainees by the intercultural residents*. The residential quarters generate their energy decentrally with renewable energies and are part of local energy, water and material cycles. It is a house for the religious and spiritual communities of the city’s inhabitants, based on the House of One in Berlin.[\/nectar_hotspot][nectar_hotspot left=”54.0496%” top=”72.6317%” position=”top”]The historical sports facilities <\/strong> are being repaired and gradually modernised.[\/nectar_hotspot][nectar_hotspot left=”69.9939%” top=”69.937%” position=”top”]The Academy <\/strong> carries the findings and experiences of the eco city to the world and above all to the global crisis areas. It serves the exchange and cooperation with global partners from science, politics, economy and culture and has the necessary seminar, conference and research rooms.[\/nectar_hotspot][nectar_hotspot left=”83.4398%” top=”74.5286%” position=”top”] With the help of Orangerie <\/strong>, plants from warmer climate zones can also be cultivated. Heating during the cold months is provided by solar technologies such as photovoltaics and solar thermal energy. It is also open to the public and creates an attractive oasis of peace in the midst of exotic and tropical plants. The intercultural centre <\/strong> serves the exchange and understanding between people of different origins and the public. Art therapeutic approaches for overcoming trauma are applied. In the sense of a real laboratory, the entire campus is understood as an integral research object with local and global questions. By selecting suitable plants that are in ecological equilibrium with each other, they are highly productive and resilient on a small multi-storey area.
